Join the Walker County Historical Commission, the Sam Houston Memorial Museum, and the Sam Houston Statue and Visitors Center for the 34th Annual Texas Independence Day and General Sam Houston's Birthday Celebration in Huntsville. Coffee and reception beginning at 9am at the Gibbs-Powell House Walker County Museum, followed by the Gravesite Ceremony at 11am at General Sam Houston's grave in Oakwood Cemetery. Buffet luncheon (reservation only, due by Feb. 25th) will be held at 12:30pm at the W.S. Gibbs Conference Hall at the Sam Houston Memorial Museum. The "Toast to Texas" and Birthday Cake will be held at the Sam Houston Statue and Visitor Center beginning at 2pm.
