Sam Houston Memorial Museum staff member Helen Belcher will be "pounding" at the cabin. First you will learn about the Cherokee art of flower pounding. Flower pounding involves hitting flowers and leaves until you have art. Next try your hand at tin punching. Tin was readily available in the form of cans and sheets which settlers would poke holes into to make designs. This decorated tin could be used to make candle holders, pie safes, and more! All ages are welcome, although younger children must be accompanied by an attentive adult.
