Join the Sam Houston Memorial Museum on Tuesday, August 27th for our second installment of "A Stitchin’ Time"; an evening of learning the two basic stitches in knitting: the knit stitch and the purl stitch, as well as a simple "cast-on" and "bind-off” while making a face/dish cloth. Participants will get to take their project home. If you attended the first class bring your project from last month, but if it is your first class with us, you will need: A ball of "worsted weight" cotton yarn (recommend a solid, light color because it is easier on the eyes and not too fussy for learning; a ball of Peaches & Cream yarn is about $2.25 at Walmart or Crafters' Secret yarn is about $2 at Hobby Lobby). A pair of size 5-9 knitting needles (cost about $5). A pad and pen to take notes. Workshop begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Gibbs Conference Hall (lower level) of the Katy & E. Don Walker, Sr. Education Center, 1402 19th Street. Limited seats, so please RSVP your spot today! For more information, contact Museum Curator of Education, Derrick Birdsall at 936-294-3153 or dcb031@shsu.edu.
