Sam Houston State University will celebrate the spirit of the holiday season during the 91st Annual Tree of Light Ceremony on Wednesday, November 30. The tree-lighting ceremony will be held from 6:00-7:00 pm in Bearkat Plaza. University President, Dana Gibson will speak at the ceremony and light the official SHSU tree. The Orange Pride Dance Team and Univesity Choir will also perform. Hot chocolate, hot wassail, gingerbread and cookies will be served. In Addition, the Department of Student Activities will collect canned goods at the event for a drive to benefit the Good Shepherd Mission. Students and organizations are also encouraged to bring one ornament to decorate the tree before or during the ceremony. All SHSU students, organizations, faculty and staff are invited to participate as well as the Huntsville/Walker County community.
Student Activites will also feature an exhibit in the LSC Art Gallery highlighting the history and tradition of the Tree of Light Ceremony. The gallery will be open for viewing Monday, November 28 through Friday, December 2.
