DESCRIPTION:On the 149th anniversary of General Sam Houston's funeral\, the Sam Houston Memorial Museum will be opening the Steamboat House.  This will give the public the rare opportunity to be able to come into the house where staff will be on hand to explain Victorian mourning etiquette\, talk a bit about Civil War medicine\, and explain about Masonic burial rights.  Sam Houston died July 26\, 1863 of pneumonia in the Steamboat House\, and his funeral ceremony was held on July 27th.
