DESCRIPTION:The 2011 Fair on the Square is set for Saturday\, October 1!  \n\n\n\nFor over three decades the historic downtown square in Huntsville Texas has buzzed with excitement on the first Saturday in October as 300 plus vendors set up shop to sell arts\, crafts\, collectibles and food during the town's annual festival\, the Fair on the Square sponsored by the Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce.  A haven for antiques and shopping\, the downtown square offers the perfect setting for visitors to stroll through the booths that line the streets\, courthouse lawn and parking lots as well as the merchants who are permanently placed year round. \n\n\n\nThis year marks the 37th annual for the Fair on the Square and will be held beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday\, October 1st.  The day begins with the hustle and bustle of vendors preparing for over 15\,000 spectators who take advantage of the free admission that is offered every year to those who are looking for one of kind treasurers that may not be found in stores.  The Fair on the Square is an event that is not only anticipated by the citizens in the quaint town of Huntsville but also to those who travel from various surrounding counties. \n\n\n\nWhat can you find at the fair on the square you might ask? The answer ranges from a wide variety of items and trinkets including jewelry\, pottery\, apparel\, children's clothing and toys\, candles\, outdoor and home d cor\, floral\, and many more homemade and commercial items as well. \n\n\n\nAnd what would a festival be in Texas without the food!  Funnel cakes and kettlekorn\, barbecue and fried pickles are just some of the favorites that will tempt you.  Ice cold lemonade and homemade root beer floats provide a refreshing treat during the heat of the day.  Just follow your nose to the food court and satisfy your sweet tooth\, thirst and hunger all at the same time!\n\n\n\nLive entertainment can be enjoyed on two different stages at the fair.  Parents\, grandparents\, aunts and uncles and the community as a whole will enjoy the performances that take place beginning at 9:00 a.m. on the stage at the Kids Korner located in Rather Park.   Children will also be delighted with the large variety of things to do that won't break mom and dad's pocketbook.  The moonwalk\, bungee run\, petting zoo\, monster slide and the Boys & Girls Club arts and crafts tent are just a few of the attractions that are absolutely free! \n\n\n\nOlder "kids" stop by the beer garden and listen to the tunes from two local bands who know how to work the crowd!  They will begin a showdown of Texas Country at 11:00 a.m. in the Beer Garden.  If an ice cold beer doesn't tempt you\, you can also enjoy sodas or water while relaxing under the shade and listening to the jam session.\n\n\n\nNo matter what your age\, the Fair on the Square is for you!
